WA-ASSESS: A Listserv for Community Health Assessment
The purpose of WA-ASSESS is to provide an electronic forum for exchange of ideas and information regarding community health assessment in Washington. Although this list is intended for primary use by assessment coordinators and public health officials in Washington, this is an open list and anyone can subscribe. You're encouraged to post questions, announcements, ideas, and information that you feel might be of interest to the public health assessment community in Washington. Don't be shy: your participation directly contributes to the richness of the electronic discussions that occur!
Please save this message for future reference, especially if this is the first time you are subscribing to an electronic mailing list. This message contains important information on how to use the list. The owners for WA-ASSESS are Lana Hamilton (360.236.4241 lana.hamilton@doh.wa.gov) and Buffi LaDue (360.236.4201 buffi.ladue@doh.wa.gov). Feel free to contact either of us if you need assistance.

Sending messages to WA-ASSESS
To send a message to all the people currently subscribed to the list, just send mail to WA-ASSESS@LISTSERV.WA.GOV. This is called "sending mail to the list," because you send mail to a single address and LISTSERV makes copies for all the people who have subscribed. This address (WA-ASSESS@LISTSERV.WA.GOV) is also called the "list address."
Replying to messages from WA-ASSESS
To reply to a message from WA-ASSESS, simply hit "reply," as you would to respond to any other email message. It's important to remember that your reply message will be sent to the entire list. If this is your intent, great: the richness of WA-ASSESS comes from interactive conversation about topics of interest to many people. However, occasionally you may want to send a reply to a WA-ASSESS posting directly to the individual who posted the message. If you reply to the original message, your response will be posted to the list, which can be embarrassing to you and annoying to other list members. To avoid this, forward your response to the individual(s) or create a new message.
It's simple: check the "To" box before you send your message. If the "To" box reads "Washington Public Health Assessment Coordinators" or "WA-ASSESS@LISTSERV.WA.GOV," your reply will be sent to the entire list.
Unsubscribing from WA-ASSESS
